Neighborhood Watch Program

Are you worried about crime in your neighborhood? You're not alone. Most likely, your neighbors are concerned, too.

What can you do?
Sign up with your program coordinator, get to know your neighbors and exchange phone numbers (cell, work and/or home).  Keep an eye on your neighborhood; report anything that looks out of the ordinary; unusual activity, strange cars and/or people that don’t belong.
How does our Neighborhood Watch work?
It works by showing residents they are not powerless against crime and we share a sense of community.
Your very own yard is the first place to start ~
  • Keep up with home & yard maintenance
  • Cleanup debris when you see it
  • Retain integrity of community
  • Dont park cars on grass or across sidewalks
  • Pick up after your dogs, dont let them run free
  • Dont encroach on common areas with personal items
  • Be respectable with noise levels
  • Dont leave childrens toys out overnight in the front yard or street
  • Put empty trash cans away Thursday night
These efforts show that people who live in Marehaven care about its appearance. The results are immediately visible. Crime is less likely to occur when a neighborhood is clean, well lighted, and used frequently by residents and their friends. By eliminating tall weeds and debris, or sprucing up sidewalks and public spaces along the street, you’ll be making the neighborhood less attractive to criminals and more attractive to the community, which makes the community safer.
By playing your part in cleaning up your community, you will help make it more attractive to residents—and less attractive to criminals!
The trouble is, the more we isolate, the less we acknowledge that we need anything from others. And the less we tend to care or notice what others might need from us.
